Hogberg is 6-6-0 with a 3.21 GAA and .892 SV% in 14 AHL games this season and is coming up to backup Anders Nilsson on Wednesday. Craig Anderson is not on the ice for the morning skate so the 25-year-old comes up to serve as backup for at least one game.

The Senators signed Magnus Hogberg to a two-year extension worth $1.4M ($700K AAV).

Hogberg spent most of the 2018-19 season with the Belleville Senators (AHL) where he was named the team’s most valuable player after going 21-17-4 with a 2.32 GAA and .917 SV% in 39 games. During his four games with Ottawa, the 24-year-old was 0-2-1 with a 4.09 GAA and .884 SV%. He will likely start the 2019-20 season with Belleville.

Hogberg will start his third straight game, having gone 0-2-0 with a 3.56 GAA and .883 SV% in his first two appearances. Tonight he faces a Canucks team that has won eight of their last 12 games (8-3-1) while averaging 3.33 goals for per game.

Hogberg was a third-round pick (No.78 overall) in 2013 and is in his third AHL season. Hogberg has gone 2-3-0 with a 2.55 GAA and .906 SV% in seven games this season and will likely only serve as Mike McKenna’s backup on Saturday.
