The Bruins have acquired Marcus Johansson from the Devils for a 2019 second-round pick and a 2020 fourth-round pick.

Johansson, who has nine power-play points (2 PPG / 7 PPA) should help bolster the Bruins second PP-unit as well.

Johansson is fully expected to be traded before Monday’s Trade Deadline, so the Devils will hold him out of the lineup for the second straight game to ensure that he remains healthy. Johansson (lower-body) will be back in the Devils lineup on Friday.

Johansson (concussion) will miss at least the next five games.

Johansson has been out since January 23rd and will not travel on the Devils’ upcoming five-game road-trip. The Devils added some wing depth at the deadline to help with Johansson’s absence, but his eventual return will make them an even deeper team.

Marcus Johansson
Johansson left Tuesday’s game after being elbowed in the head and did not return.

Johansson took what looked to be a purposeful elbow to the head from Brad Marchand in the third period and had to be attended to by the training staff. Johansson did not return to the game and Marchand will have a hearing for the incident. Johansson likely won’t be available for Thursday’s game but could be ready after the All-Star break.

Marcus Johansson
Johansson (ankle) will return to the Devils lineup on Thursday.

Johansson has been battling injuries all season-long, only appearing in 15 of the Devils’ first 33 games. Most recently he has missed the last four games with an ankle injury but will draw back in tonight. Johansson has four goals and three assists (seven points).

Marcus Johansson
