Marcus Kruger News

Kruger (upper-body) is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

Kruger left last Friday’s game with an upper-body injury and will miss the Winter Classic and at least the next two weeks. Kruger has 10 points (2G / 8A) in 39 games this season and is expected to be replaced by Tanner Kero this afternoon.

Kruger (wrist) will return to the Blackhawks lineup on Saturday.

Kruger has been sidelined since December 17th after undergoing surgery to repaid a dislocated wrist. The fourth-line centre is a key member of the Blackhawks penalty kill but provides no fantasy help. He has just one assist in 33 games this season.

Coach Quenneville says they're going to try Kruger at second line center more; he will start there on Saturday.

Kruger has played on the second line sparingly this season and saw some time there last year. He has 18 points (4G / 14A) in 46 games. He receives a boost in fantasy value while he is skating with Patrick Kane and Kris Versteeg. He makes for an interesting choice in one-day fantasy leagues.

Kruger still hasn't been cleared for contact, but has been skating on his own. It was a good sign Sunday that he participated in practice with his teammates for the first time since his symptoms returned after getting roughed up by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Dec. 26.

Kruger still has not been cleared for contact and has no timetable so it's hard to expect too much from the injured rookie. Before getting hurt he scored three goals and 10 points in 34 games.
