Colin White likely will need a few games off as the season wears on so Vandermeer will keep him fresh. The 31-year-old will play in one of the two games.

The Sharks have jumped into the free-agent pool by signing Edmonton defenseman Jim Vandermeer to a one-year deal. Vandermeer, 31, had 14 points (2 goals, 12 assists) and 74 penalty minutes in 62 games last season. He also had 122 hits and 78 blocked shots.
