Hossa (leg) will play on Friday vs. the Stars.

Hossa has been out since February 13th, but will return to the lineup tonight after missing nearly one month with a leg injury. Hossa has 10 goals and 18 assists (28 points) in 54 games this season. He will skate on the Blackhawks’ top line with Jonathan Toews and Andrew Ladd.

Hossa was a late scratch in the Blackhawks win over the Sharks on Sunday. With Hossa out, Brandon Mashinter shifted back into the lineup and Andrew Shaw took Hossa’s spot on Toews line. The Blackhawks will hold him out of Tuesday’s game so that he can get back to full health over the Christmas break.

Hossa is not expected to travel with the team to New Jersey, which means he will remain in Chicago and receive treatment. The Blachawks return home to play the Oilers on Sunday—monitor Hossa’s status leading up to that game.

Hossa is dealing with a lower-body injury and his absence from the morning skate suggests that he will miss tonight’s game vs. the Kings. With Hossa out, the Blackhawks have recalled Ryan Hartman and Marko Dano, but Ryan Garbutt is expected to take his spot on the top line.

Hossa served as a spot-holder on the Blackhawks fourth line for Brandon Bollig. However, it is a good sign that Hossa was able to get back onto the ice. He is 11 days into his recovery from an upper-body injury that is expected to keep him sidelined for 2-3 weeks. Chicago could have Hossa back in their lineup by next week.
