Giordano (hamstring) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Giordano has missed the last nine game but was on the ice for the Flames morning skate and is listed as a game-time decision for tonight's game in Boston. If he plays, Giordano is expected to be on the top-pair with T.J Brodie and relegated to the second power-play unit after Monday's addition of Erik Gustafsson.

The Flames have signed Mark Giordano to a six-year, $40.5M contract extension.

Giordano was already inked through the 2016-17 season, so his new deal will keep him with the Flames until 2022-23. He has missed a total of 39 games over the last two years, but has developped into one of the games best defensemen. With the addition of Dougie Hamilton and this signing, the Flames are going to have a stout blueline for years to come.

Giordano will have surgery on his bicep and will miss the rest of the season.

The Flames kept very quiet on Giordano’s injury leading up to the deadline, likely to protect their potential deals. Giordano even took warmups on Friday, but obviously didn’t play. The Flames and Gio explored all options to see if they could put surgery off, but ultimately the Flames medical staff elected the best course of action for Giordano was for him to undergo surgery. He is expected to rehab for the next 4-5 months.

Giordano returns to the Flames lineup tonight after missing six weeks with a broken ankle.

Giordano missed 18 games but will suit up tonight with the Phoenix Coyotes in town. This is a huge boost for the Flames who get their captain and heart-and-soul of their blueline back vs. a strong Coyotes offence. Prior to being injured, Giordano was on a tear. He has two goals and seven assists in eight games. He obviously won't keep up the point-per-game pace, he is not Erik Karlsson, but he will post serviceable fantasy numbers. It is reasonable to expect him to finish between 30-40 points.

Giordano (ankle) is practicing on a regular pair and participating in power-play and penalty-kill drills, a good sign he will return to the lineup tomorrow vs. Phoenix.

Giordano has been out since October 21 so it has been six weeks which is on the front end of his six-to-eight week timetable. The Flames captain would be a welcomed addition to the blueline, especially against a good Coyotes offence. He had a great start to the year with two goals and nine points in eight games. Monitor his status tomorrow.
