Mark Kastelic is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain and is not expected back "anytime soon".

Kastelic left the Senators' previous game vs. Los Angeles due to a high ankle sprain after just 2:45 TOI and is not expected back anytime soon as he is out indefinitely. The 24-year-old grinder has yet to pick up a point this season but has eight SOG, 21 PIMs, and a -2 plus/minus in nine games played while averaging only 6:55 TOI.

Kastelic left Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Kings after suffering an undisclosed injury. In nine games, Kastelic has been held without a point while racking up 21 penalty minutes and eight hits. He is expected to miss the next few games.

Kastelic is "banged up" and will not be able to play Wednesday vs. the New York Islanders. Dylan Gambrell will be taking his spot in the bottom-six. The 23-year-old has four goals, one assist and a -10 plus/minus through 43 games this season.

Kastelic was a fifth-round pick in 2019 and has spent the last year and a half in Belleville (AHL). The 6-foot-3, 210 lbs. centre, who has scored five goals with six assists (11 points) in 31 AHL games this season, will replace Josh Norris (shoulder).

The Senators signed Mark Kastelic to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Ottawa selected Kastelic with the No.125 overall pick (fifth-round) in the 2019 NHL draft. The 21-year-old centre served as the captain for the Calgary Hitmen in 2019-20 while leading the team in goals (38) and tying for the team-lead in points (68) in 58 games. Following a five-year WHL career, Kastelic is expected to join Belleville (AHL) for the 2020-21 campaign.
