The Blue Jackets have acquired Mark Letestu from the Predators for a 2018 fourth round draft pick.

Letestu had a career-year in Edmonton last season, but has not been quite as productive in 2017-18. With the Oilers surprisingly out of the playoff race Letestu heads back to Columbus, where he played from 2012-to-2015. Letestu will play a bottom-6 role but should also see some power-play time, like he did in Edmonton.

Letestu (undisclosed) is questionable for Wednesday.

Letestu was not on the ice for the Oilers’ morning skate and is not expected to play on Wednesday vs. the Bruins. Latest has two goals and three assists in 25 games this season, so he isn’t a great fantasy option regardless. If Letestu likely out, look for Luke Gazdic to be back in the lineup.

Letestu underwent surgery today to repair groin and abdominal injuries and is expected to be sidelined approximately six week.

Letestu tallied three goals and two assists for five points in nine games before being sidelined in late-October. The 29-year-old has registered 54 goals and 65 assists (119 points) and 53 penalty minutes in 273 career NHL games. He is expected to be out until mid-January.

Letestu will miss 2-4 weeks with a groin injury.

The injuries continue to mount for the Blue Jackets. Letestu was playing more minutes than ever because Columbus is so shorthanded right now, but now they will be without their 29-year-old centre for 2-4 weeks. Expect some more call-ups to come to replace all of the injured veterans.

Blue Jackets forward Mark Letestu, out since Jan. 6 because of a broken right hand, was activated from injured reserve and will return to the lineup tonight. He’ll skate on a line with Vinny Prospal and center Jeff Carter.

Letestu could have some value down the stretch playing on the second line. He has five goals and 10 points in 25 games with the Blue Jackets.
