The Ducks have acquired Matt Irwin and a 2022 sixth-round pick from the Predators for Korbinian Holzer.
Irwin goes from the Predators' seventh defenseman to replacing Korninian Holzer as the Ducks' spare D-man. The 32-year-old has picked up just two assists while averaging 11:49 TOI/gm in 27 games this season.
Irwin will be a healthy scratch on Sunday.
Irwin appeared in five straight games but will come out of the lineup in Winnipeg with Alexandre Carrier suiting up in his second game of the season.
Irwin is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday.
Irwin was a healthy scratch in the first two games of the season but is expected to replace Dan Hamhuis on Tuesday. Irwin has found a home as the Predators seventh defenseman, appearing in 50 and 44 games over the last two seasons.

The Predators are apparently very happy with their blueline depth, signing Irwin, Yannick Weber and Anthony Bitetto all to extensions this morning. Irwin has collected seven points (2G / 5A) in 31 games this season, giving him 21 points (5G / 16A) in 105 gams with Nashville over the last two seasons.

The Predators have recalled Matt Irwin from Milwaukee (AHL).
The Predators have been battling food poisoning, so they’ve recalled Irwin to serve as a seventh defenseman on their upcoming road-trip. The 28-year-old defenseman has one assist in four AHL games this season and 51 points (16G / 25A) in 155 career NHL games with the Sharks and the Bruins.

Irwin, 28, was a player with 153 games of NHL experience heading into last season, but he was never able to maintain a roster spot with the Bruins, spending 64 games with Providence (AHL). During his season with Providence, Irwin collected 30 points (5G / 25A) but will likely start 2016-17 with Milwaukee (AHL).
Irwin has cleared waivers and has been assigned to Providence (AHL).
Irwin struggled through his first two games with the Bruins which prompted them to waive him. He cleared waivers and with Zdeno Chara ready to return today, the Bruins sent Irwin back to Providence.

Irwin reportedly tweaked something while taking a shot at today’s practice. He was taken off of the ice as a precaution and will receive some treatment this afternoon. His status is uncertain for Saturday, so monitor his status tomorrow morning.

A healthy scratch for the last six games, Sharks defenseman Matt Irwin will return to the lineup against the Kings on Wednesday. “It’s just time to get him playing again. He shoots the puck a lot, he gives the power play a bit of a pop, and he’ll get that opportunity,” head coach Todd McLellan said. Irwin will be paired with Dan Boyle, while Justin Braun and Marc-Edouard Vlasic will reunite. The third pair will be Brad Stuart and Scott Hannan.
