Matt Read News

Read (concussion) is taking part in the Flyers optional morning skate.

Read has missed the last five games with a concussion that he suffered on December 31. He was participating in drills this morning which is a good sign that he is nearing a return. The Flyers are in New York tonight, no word if his return will happen this evening vs. the Rangers. He has 19 points (10G / 9A) in 39 games.

Read (lower-body) who was listed as game-time decision appears to be in.

Read is taking part in warm-ups which is a good sign that he is in this morning. Read missed Wednesday's contest, but it appears he will come in and Zac Rinaldo will likely come out. Read has eight goals and three assist in 23 games.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced during warmups on Wednesday night that Read had sustained a lower-body injury against the Panthers and is listed as day-to-day.

The injury appears to be in his foot as his skate boot won't fit. Prior to the injury, Read had 4 goals in his previous 3 games.

#flyers analyst Steve Coates just reported that Matt Read and Nick Grossmann will both play tonight.

Read was supposed to be out 5-6 weeks but he is back after only two weeks. The speedy recovery is great news for the Flyers, Read had seven goals and six assists in 18 games before getting hurt. It is unknown who Read will play with tonight.

Read still feels some discomfort when he shoots. Says it's up to Lavy and Homer if he plays tonight.

Read was expected to be out 5-6 weeks with torn rib cage muscles, but is has only been two weeks since he's suffered the injury. Read is way ahead of schedule but it appears as if he will be in the lineup tonight despite the discomfort he feels while shooting. However nothing has been confirmed so monitor his status throughout the afternoon.

Matt Read may be back sooner than even the Flyers expected.

Read, 26, was originally projected to be out for 6 weeks with torn rib cage muscles, suffered in back-to-back hits on Feb. 20 in Pittsburgh. Instead, Read said he could be back “as soon as this weekend.” He skated in a full, hour-long practice on Monday -wearing a regular, white practice jersey - and participated in cycling drills with passing and shooting.

Even though Matt Read is still supposed to miss 5 more weeks, he was out briefly during today's morning skate in Voorhees.

Read is still going to be out of the lineup for awhile and could miss the rest of the fantasy regular season. It is a good sign that he was at practice but he's still not close to playing.

Matt Read
Nothing official, but sounding more and more like Matt Read may not play. Maybe Tye McGinn skating with scratches meant nothing after all.

Read left yesterday's game with an injury but there is no word on wether or not he will play tonight. Some reports say he might some say he won't so check in during warmups to see what the real story is.
