Michael Del Zotto News

The Flyers have signed Michael Del Zotto to a one-year deal worth $1.3 million.

With Kimmo TImonen out indefinitely after being treated for blood clots, the Flyers were seeking help on the blueline. They sign the 24-year-old, who had three goals and 13 assists (16 points) in 67 games between the Rangers and Predators. The former first-round pick (20th overall in '08) has seen his play slip in the last few seasons, but comes to Philadelphia on a low-risk one-year deal.

The Rangers have traded Michael Del Zotto to the Predators in exchange for Kevin Klein.

The Rangers had been trying to move Del Zotto for awhile now, but finally pulled the trigger this afternoon. Del Zotto carries a $2.55 million US cap hit but is a pending restricted free agent at the end of the season. Del Zotto has regressed since his 2011-12 season when we saw him total 41 points (10G / 31A) in 77 games. He has developed some bad habits in his own end of the rink which the Predators will attempt to fix. He has 11 points (2G / 9A) with a minus-5 rating in 42 games this season.

Del Zotto was a healthy scratch for the last three games but will rejoin the lineup tonight. The 23-year-old former 20th overall pick (2008) has had a disappointing start to the season after scoring 41 points in 2011-12 and was on pace for 36 over an 82 game season last year. He has been the talk of potential trades, but for now he is still a Ranger and will look to stay in the lineup with a strong game tonight.
