The Islanders have placed Michael Grabner (lower-body) on IR.

Grabner is eligible to return to the lineup on Saturday vs. the Lightning, but he has not skated since being injured, so do not expect him to play. His placement on IR and Griffin Reinhart’s return to the AHL opens up roster spots for Johnny Boychuk and Travis Hamonic to come off of IR for Friday’s game.

Grabner (lower-body) will not play on Monday.

Grabner is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury, so he will not play tonight. There is no word on when he suffered the injury, but he has played just five games since returning from offseason sports hernia surgery. Casey Cizikas will replace Grabner vs. the Devils.

The Islanders have placed Michael Grabner (lower-body) on injured reserve retroactive to September 26th.

Grabner is coming off of a season in which he was limited to 64 games. He has a terrible year, scoring just 12 goals, four less than he recorded in 19 less games in the shortened season. Expect a bounce-back season from the former 30-goal scoring winger. The retroactive moves means he can comeback as soon as he is healthy.

Grabner (illness) returns to the Islanders lineup tonight.

Grabner missed Sunday's game because of an illness but will suit up against the Bruins tonight. Eric Boulton will come out of the lineup to make room for Grabner. He has just five goals and seven assists in 36 games this season, but three of those goals have come in his last four games.
