Kiprusoff hasn't played in a month but it looks like he will return to the lineup tomorrow. He was 2-3-2 with a 3.24 GAA and .870 SV% before getting hurt. Kipper is only owned in 24.0% of ESPN leagues, he could make for a good pickup for teams that are dealing with goalie injuries.
Miikka Kiprusoff News
This is good news for the Flames as they have been playing well lately and getting Kiprusoff back will help even more. He is still a great NHL goalie and could be a good pickup in leagues where he was dropped after the injury.
Kiprusoff hasn't played since February 5th. The Flames have won five of 10 games since Kipper has been out with an injury. The fact that he practiced regularly today is a positive sign that he should be back in the near future.
It doesn't look like Kiprusoff is going to be back at all for the month of February. We could see him back on the ice in March, but this is big blow for the Flames.
There was speculation yesterday that Kipper's injury was likely more serious than originally thought. The addition of 33 year-old Joey MacDonald and the fact that Kiprusoff couldn't go into the butterfly at practice raised some red flags. When he returns the starting job is obviously still his but that appears to still be weeks away.
It was speculated that the Flames could have Kiprusoff back on Wednesday when he is eligible to come off of IR. However based off of what he was able to do in practice it does not sound like he will be ready.
This is good news for the Flames and Kipper's fantasy owners. He is only listed as day-to-day which would signify the injury isn't all that significant and he won't miss an extended period of time. Leyland Irving will be the Flames starter while Kiprusoff recovers.
Kiprusoff didn't return for the 3rd period in yesterday's contest with what was called a lower-body injury. He will be re-evaluated today and more news will follow. He is an integral part of the Calgary Flames and it would be devastating if they were to lose him long-term.
Kiprusoff is 1-3-2 with a 3.42 GAA and .859 SV% this season. The Flames are dead last in the NHL with 4 points and need to pick it up if they want to make the playoffs in this shortened season. Kipper and the Flames dominated the Hawks in their last outing but still took a shootout loss after letting Marian Hossa tie the game with 3 seconds left.
Kiprusoff is off to a terrible start to the season, he only has 1 win in 5 starts with a 3.76 GAA and .854 SV%. Kiprusoff is a good net-minder and should bounce back with time. Chicago has struggled to score in their last two outings but this still isn't an ideal matchup for Kipper.
No hard confirm link but Kipper is starting.
If it was up to Kipper, Leland Irving would never get a start.
Kiprusoff needs to give the Flames better goaltending than he has so far. For this team to be competitive this year, they'll need above average netminding from their number one.
Kiprusoff allowed 4 goals on 29 shots in the Flames season opener, and the task doesn't get any easier tonight as he faces Anaheim who chased Cory Schneider from the net on Saturday, scoring 5 goals on 14 shots.
Kiprusoff who has played in at least 70 games every season for the last 7 years, is expected to play almost every game this year with the shortened schedule. The workload alone is enough to solidify him as a #1 fantasy option, but he will still post a solid GAA and SV% to go along with it.
