Mike Reilly missed a significant portion of the 2024-25 season, attending to medical concerns with his heart, but returned to action before the end of the season and will continue his career on a one-year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes. Reilly has not played since the beginning of November, first missing time due to a concussion, and subsequently being out after underdoing a heart procedure in mid-November. Before his injury, the 31-year-old Reilly had played 11 games, averaging 15:45 time-on-ice. There is no timeline for his return.

Reilly avoided being stretchered off, but had to he helped off the ice after being hit by Jordan Greenway. The Islanders did not have a post-game update on his status but the defenseman will travel to New York with the team and be re-evaluated. Expect Dennis Cholowski to replace him in the lineup on Sunday.

The Islanders have signed Mike Reilly to a one-year deal worth $1.25 million.

Reilly will remain with the Islanders after a successful first campaign with New York in 2023-24 and has earned himself a one-year deal worth $1.25 million. The 30-year-old was claimed off waivers from Florida early on during the 2023-24 season but bounced back positively by picking up six goals, 24 points and 28 PIMs in 59 games with New York.

Reilly will draw back into the Islanders' lineup Tuesday vs. Vegas.

Samuel Bolduc will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday, allowing Reilly to re-enter the Islanders lineup. Reilly has sat out the last two games for the Islanders after recording an assist, four penalty minutes, a +1 plus/minus, and two shots on goal in 15:03 time-on-ice in his last outing.
