Mike Santorelli News

It was thought newcomer Krys Barch would be the healthy scratch, but instead, Dineen decided to bench Mike Santorelli.

Despite his success last season, Santorelli does not seem to be one of Dineen's favored offensive players. The former Nashville Predator has four goals and an assist through 22 games with the new-look Panthers.

Looks like if Matthias can't play tonight, Santorelli will draw back in. Known as more of an offensive player, the Vancouver native scored 20 goals and 41 points last season centering the second line. His new coach likely eases him back into the lineup.

Some bad news out of Panthers practice as center Mike Santorelli will be out for about 2-4 weeks with a shoulder injury sustained in the second period of Tuesday’s 4-3 OT loss to Dallas.

Tough news as Santorelli was expected to center one of the top two lines. The former 6th round pick scored 20 goals and 41 points last season with the Panthers. He should come near those totals this season if he remains a vital part of the team's offense.
