Wood has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies (AHL).

The Maple Leafs acquired Wood at the beginning of the season as part of the deal that sent Matthew Knies to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Kirill Marchenko. The 31-year-old Wood hasn't played this season, but he could be nearing his Maple Leafs debut. Wood scored 14 points (8G / 6A) in 54 games with Columbus last season.

Toronto has acquired Miles Wood, Kirill Marchenko, and Elvis Merzlikins (18% retained salary) from Columbus for Emil Andrae, Matthew Knies, Steven Lorentz, and a 2nd-round pick.

Wood was placed on waivers on Sunday and found a new home Monday when Columbus announced they had traded the 31-year-old winger to Toronto alongside Kirill Marchenko and Elvis Merzlikins (18% retained salary) to Toronto for Emil Andrae, Matthew Knies, Steven Lorentz, and a 2027 2nd-round pick (SEA). Wood spent one season in Columbus, picking up eight goals, 14 points and 26 PIMs. He is expected to battle for a bottom-six role with the Maple Leafs this season.

Wood (lower-body) will return vs. Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Mateychuk has been sidelined for over two weeks because of an upper-body injury, but he will return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Flyers. The 21-year-old defenseman is having an excellent season, playing predominantly alongside Zach Werenski, averaging 20:20 time-on-ice and scoring 21 points (8G / 13A) through 44 games.

Wood (lower-body) is expected to draw back into Columbus' lineup vs. Los Angeles on Monday.

Wood did not play in the Blue Jackets' most recent game due to a lower-body injury, but he will return to the lineup on Monday against the Los Angeles Kings. The 30-year-old Wood is averaging 13:39 time-on-ice, recording 47 shots, 35 hits, and 12 points (8G / 4A) in 28 games this season.

Wood (illness) will not play in Edmonton on Monday.

An illness is circulating through the Blue Jackets dressing room, leaving the status of several players uncertain for their contest on Monday night against the Edmonton Oilers. The 30-year-old Wood has been effective in a limited role with Columbus, averaging only 11:45 time-on-ice and scoring four goals in nine games.

Wood (upper-body) will return to Columbus' lineup on Tuesday in Buffalo.

Wood suffered a scary injury in the Blue Jackets third game of the season, exiting early after an errant stick caught him directly in his eye. Despite the scary scene, Wood avoided a significant injury and will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres. Zach Aston-Reese will serve as a healthy scratch to accommodate Wood's return.

The Blue Jackets have acquired Miles Wood and Charlie Coyle from the Avalanche for Gavin Brindley, a 2025 3rd Round, and a 2027 2nd Round Pick.

Wood's contract certainly isn't the best, as he has four more years at $2.5M AAV, but he's a physical bottom-6 winger that will help Columbus replace some of the wingers they let walk in free agency. Most recently, Wood missed 45 games in 2024-25, finishing the season with just four goals and four assists in 37 games.

Wood will draw into the Avalanche lineup for Game 2 in Dallas.

After much speculation that Gabriel Landeskog (knee) could draw in for Ross Colton (lower-body), it will in fact be Miles Wood that enters Colorado's lineup. Wood finished the regular season with four goals and four assists in 37 games.
