The Coyotes have signed Nick Bjugstad to a two-year contract worth $4.2 million ($2.1M AAV).

Bjugstad had 23 points (13G / 10A) in 59 games with Arizona last season before being traded to the Oilers at the deadline, where he added another six points (4G / 2A) in 19 games. The 6-6, 209 lbs. centre provides some stability and a veteran presence in the Coyotes middle-6, but has not had more than 29 points in a season since 2018.

The Oilers have acquired Nick Bjugstad (50% retained) and Cam Dineen from the Coyotes for a 2023 3rd Round Pick and Michael Kesselring.

Bjugstad had 13 goals, 10 assists, 111 SOG, 26 PIMs and a +7 plus/minus through 59 games with the Arizona Coyotes and has been dealt to Edmonton (with 50% salary retention) for a 3rd Round Pick and Michael Kesselring.

Nick Bjugstad
The Wild have acquired Nick Bjugstad from the Penguins for a conditional 2021 draft pick.

Bjugstad missed 46 games after undergoing core muscle surgery in 2020 and then was hurt again three games after returning to the lineup and then the season was paused. Bjugstad has missed a total of 92 games (39.5%) over the last three seasons but will look for a fresh start in his hometown. Bjusgstad was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and went to the University of Minnesota, so this should be a welcomed move for the 28-year-old centre. Both Mikko Koivu and Alex Galchenyuk are UFAs at season's end, so there could be a very clear path to a bottom-6 role for Bjugstad.
