The Maple Leafs recalled Nick Robertson from Toronto (AHL).

Robertson had a terrific preseason but was sent down because he was waiver exempt and the Maple Leafs were in a cap crunch. With Matt Murray landing on LTIR, the Maple Leafs gained some cap flexibility and wasted no time bringing Robertson back. With William Nylander (illness) not on the ice for Sunday's practice, Robertson skated on a line with John Tavares and Denis Malgin.

Robertson was called up from Toronto (AHL) and is expected to draw into the Maple Leafs lineup on Tuesday.

Robertson skated on the second line with John Tavares and Ilya Mikheyev in Tuesday's morning skate. He has one goal in nine games with the Maple Leafs this season, spending most of the year with the Marlies, where he has 27 points (15G / 12A) in 26 games.

The Maple Leafs have recalled Nick Robertson from Toronto (AHL).

Robertson is among the Maple Leafs' top prospects but has had a tough time gaining any traction due to repeated injury issues. Since returning to the Marlies lineup recently, Robertson has scored three goals with five assists (eight points) in nine games. He had one assist in six games with the Maple Leafs last season.

Robertson is expected to "miss some time" with a knee injury.

Robertson made his season debut on Saturday but suffered a knee injury, which Sheldon Keefe said is going to force him to "miss some time." If Robertson misses a lengthy period of time it puts the Maple Leafs in a salary cap crunch. They waived Jason Spezza and Aaron Dell on Saturday to try and free up some space for Robertson's replacement.
