The Sharks have acquired Nick Spaling and Roman Polak from the Maple Leafs for Raffi Torres, a 2017 second round pick and 2018 second round pick.
Spaling picked up seven points (1G / 6A) in 35 games this season. Spaling was picked up in the Phil Kessel trade and is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. He provides the Sharks with bottom-6 depth.
Spaling is expected to be out long-term with an upper-body injury that he suffered on Thursday.

Forward Nick Spaling skated this morning. He is on injured reserve and can’t play. It was the first time he skated since the Predators Oct. 29 game against the Anaheim Ducks.
If for whatever reason you own Spaling, keep him on your IR. The versatile forward does have a goal and three points over 10 games making him a fringe option in the deepest of fantasy hockey leagues.
