Kronwall has missed the last 15 games after having his knee scoped, but he was activated from IR this morning and will return to the lineup vs. the Blue Jackets. Kronwall had his knee scoped on January 19th and was only expected to miss a minimum of two weeks. However, his movement to IR will keep him out of the lineup until at least February 14th.
Kronwall had his knee scoped on Tuesday and will miss at least the next two weeks or four games as a result. Kronwall’s injury is a huge blow for the Red Wings blueline, but it will give young defenseman Alexei Marchenko a chance to get back into the lineup.
Kronwall has been suspended for what the NHL’s department of Player Safety deemed as a “charge” for his hit on Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov. Kronwall has no previous history of fine or suspension, so he has only been given one game and will be back for Game 1 in Montreal, should the Red Wings get by the Lightning tonight.
