Olli Jokinen News

The Blues have acquired Olli Jokinen from the Maple Leafs for Joakim Lindstrom and a conditional 6th round pick.

Jokinen had one assist in six games with the Maple Leafs, but the plan all along was to flip Jokinen for an asset. The Leafs picked up a a conditional 6th, that can be as high as a fourth based on the Blues playoff performance and Jokinen’s impact on that run; as well as 31-year-old Lindstrom. Jokinen could have a tough time cracking a deep Blues lineup.

Jokinen will make his Maple Leafs debut on Tuesday.

It didn’t look like Jokinen would play tonight, but he announced this morning that he will be making his debut tonight vs. the Panthers. He has just six points (3G / 3A) in 48 games this season, so he probably won’t have much of a fantasy impact. He will start on a line with Leo Komarov and David Clarkson.

Jokinen is unlikely to play on Tuesday vs. the Panthers.

Jokinen was not on the ice for Maple Leafs practice on Monday because he was undergoing a physical. He can’t suit up for the Leafs until Mike Santorelli and Cody Franson are cleared to play for the Predators. Monitor his status on Tuesday.

The Maple Leafs have acquired Olli Jokinen, Brendan Leipsic and a 2015 first round pick from the Predators for Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli.

Jokinen is a pending unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and was just a salary dump for the Predators. The veteran centre has been a healthy scratch in eight of the last nine games. He has registered three goals and three assists in 48 games this season.

The Predators have signed Olli Jokinen to a one-year, $2.5 million dollar contract.

The 35-year-old veteran centre had 18 goals and 25 assists (43 points) with a minus-8 rating in 82 games with the Jets last season. The Predators do not have the most talented pivots, so Jokinen could be the one that starts the season with James Neal.
