Owen Nolan News

Owen Nolan was released from the Canucks late Saturday night, but it wasn’t due to a lack of effort. “I thought he came in and gave it a real honest effort, but he had a bad groin, physically I’m not sure if he would have been able to endure the daily workload of the NHL at his age. But he came in here, worked real hard, showed us some good things, but we felt we wanted to go in another direction.”

Sounds like Nolan will either try his luck with another team or retire.

Head coach Alain Vigneault revealed Owen Nolan and Anders Eriksson are having groin problems, along with Andrew Ebbett. They did not skate Friday.

Nolan is a longshot to make the team but could get a job due to various injuries. He scored 16 goals and 33 points in his last NHL season (2009-2010). If he does play, don't expect anything higher than the third round.
