The Stars have re-signed Patrick Eaves to a one-year deal worth $1 million.

Eaves, 32, has had a difficult time staying healthy during his two-year tenure with the Stars, missing a total of 63 games over that span. Despite missing a tonne of time, he has been a versatile forward, moving up and down the Stars lineup and collecting 25 goals and 19 assists (44 points) in 101 games.

The Stars have placed Patrick Eaves (lower-body) on injured reserve.

Eaves was moved to the Stars’ top line on Tuesday but he suffered a lower-body injury and did not return. Eaves has been moved to IR to create a roster opening to recall Curtis McKenzie. With Eaves out, Patrick Sharp may be moved up to the top line with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn.

Eaves left Friday’s game with a head injury and did not return.

Eaves was hit in the head by a shot from teammate John Klingberg. He was down the ice for a few minutes before being helped to the locker room. Eaves was then taken to the hospital for x-rays. Coach Lindy Ruff said he should know more on Saturday but it looks like Eaves is going to “miss some time.”

The Red Wings have traded Patrick Eaves, Calle Jarnkrok and a third-round pick to the Predators for David Legwand.

Eaves had served as a healthy scratch in the last four games with Detroit and will now fight for playing time in Nashville. He has two goals and three assists in 25 games with the Red Wings this season. The Red Wings moved Eaves to open up a spot on the roster for Legwand's arrival.

Eaves suffered a dislocated jaw as a result of a Joffrey Lupul cross-check in the Winter Classic, but says that he will play on Saturday vs. Dallas.

Since being recalled from Grand Rapids, Eaves has skated in eight games, recording one goal. Despite seeing time on the Red Wings second power-play unit, Eaves is not fantasy relevant.
