Having fallen off the third line, McGinn is getting a chance to show what he can do on the second in the spot that Benn Ferriero has been playing while Marty Havlat recovers from shoulder surgery.
Mcginn not playing on the third line indicates he will either get sent down or scratched to start the season. Last season he scored one goal and six points in 49 games which was a drastic falling off from his 10 goals over 59 games the season before. Don't expect much from the former 36th overall pick.
Not trying to upstage my colleague, DP, but a little news to pass along. TSN’s Bob McKenzie reported on Twitter that Sharks forward Jamie McGinn has re-signed with a one-year deal for $680,000. It’s reportedly a two-way contract.
If McLellan moves Marleau to the middle on another line, he says it's about size and strength down the middle . . . if he makes the change.
