Jamie McGinn News

Marleau skating with Handzus and McGinn on third line, which again is the way it finished in the Minnesota loss.

Marleau was demoted to the third line and figures to stick there for at least another game. The former 2nd overall pick has 10 goals and 20 points through 24 games but hasn't posted a point in his last four games.

Patrick Marleau is in the building today, but still not skating. It's the third straight practice he's missed due to illness.

With the team not playing until Friday, then can afford to rest their number one LW. The former captain has not missed a game since the 2008-2009 campaign, so don't expect him to sit out.

Having fallen off the third line, McGinn is getting a chance to show what he can do on the second in the spot that Benn Ferriero has been playing while Marty Havlat recovers from shoulder surgery.

Mcginn not playing on the third line indicates he will either get sent down or scratched to start the season. Last season he scored one goal and six points in 49 games which was a drastic falling off from his 10 goals over 59 games the season before. Don't expect much from the former 36th overall pick.
