Cedric Paquette News

Paquette returned to the Canadiens lineup on Wednesday and was a minus-1 in 10:18 TOI. He'll come out of the lineup on Friday with the Canadiens going to 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

Paquette will miss at least 10 days, so his move to IR opens up a roster spot in case the Canadiens need to call up a forward.

Paquette was missing from the Hurricanes morning skate and is not expected to play Saturday vs. the Blue Jackets. Paquette was skating with Vincent Trochceck and Martin Necas, so look for Steven Lorentz to move up into that spot on Saturday.

Paquette was acquired from the Senators in a trade that sent Ryan Dzingel to Ottawa on Saturday. Paquette will make his Hurricanes debut on the fourth line with Jordan Martinook and Jesper Fast.

Carey has 13 points (7G / 6A) in 17 games with Providence this season. With Patrice Bergeron out, Carey comes up to make his season debut.

Paquette has missed the first eight games of the 2019-20 season but is expected to make his debut vs. the Penguins. Paquette will centre the fourth line with Patrick Maroon and Luke Witkowski. The 26-year-old had 13 goals and four assists (17 points) in 80 games last season.

Paquette took a big hit from Riley Stillman in Saturday’s preseason game and was seen leaving the arena with his arm in a sling. His status for Thursday’s opener is obviously in question, which leaves Gemel Smith to start the season as Tampa Bay’s fourth-line centre.
