Martin is out 4-6 weeks with a broken hand.

Martin suffered a broken hand in Sochi. With just eight weeks left in the regular season, Martin will miss at least four weeks of action. The Penguins will be without their top two defensemen as Martin joins Kris Letang (stroke) on IR.

Still no timetable for Martin's return from a hand injury.

Martin has been spotted wearing a cast on his hand/wrist, but the Penguins have yet to release the severity of his injury. They will already be without Kris Letang, so losing Martin further weakens their blueline. Simon Despres who was recalled on Monday has a great opportunity to showcase his ability with Martin and Letang sidelined.

Martin (leg) may be returning to the Penguins blueline tonight.

Martin skated with the team over the weekend and is on the ice for the gameday skate. He is skating alongside Brooks Orpik which suggests he will be back in tonight. Will update following the morning skate.

Martin has a fractured tibia and will be out approximately 4-6 weeks, per coach Dan Bylsma.

This is a terrible break for the Penguins. Martin is one of their more reliable defenseman and brings a lot to their top power-play unit. The injury will move Kris Letang back to the top-unit and could thrust Simon Despres into the lineup for the foreseeable future. Expect Martin back after Christmas.

The Penguins have placed Paul Martin (lower-body) on IR.

The Penguins have not announced the nature or severity of Martin's injury, but his placement on IR means that he will miss at least one week. Head coach Dan Bylsma said that "we will know more in couple of days" so they will likely release a full injury report on Martin later today or tomorrow. For now Simon Despres has been recalled.

Martin (lower-body) will not play tomorrow.

The Penguins did not say what the nature or severity of Martin's injury is, but a further update will come in a few days. For now consider him day-to-day. Robert Bortuzzo will likely enter the lineup and if the injury is serious, Simon Despres could be recalled.

Martin (undisclosed) is not on the ice for the second day in a row.
