It was another strong out for the young net minder but Detroit continues to struggle to find ways to score. It looks like Jimmy Howard will be held out of tonight’s game, so look for Mrazek to take on the Sabres.

With Howie sidelined, Mrazek becomes the starter for time-being and it starts tonight vs. the visiting Avalanche. The 22-year-old is 3-2-0 with a 2.55 GAA and .922 SV% and makes for a solid spot-start option for people in need of Sunday goalie numbers.

Mrazek stopped 34 of 35 shots in the Red Wings’ 3-1 win over the Hurricanes last Sunday. He has won all three of his starts with Detroit while posting a 2.59 GAA and .912 SV%. Tonight the Red Wings will call upon him to get a big victory on the road in Toronto. Both Detroit and Toronto are high scoring offences, but seem to ratchet up the D when they play each other.

Jimmy Howard started the last three, but Mrazek will get back in tonight in New Jersey which leaves Howie for Sunday vs. Vancouver. He makes for a nice spot-start against the Devils who’s offence ranks 25th in the NHL.

Mrazek will make his season debut tonight after posting a 3-2-0 record with a 3.25 GAA and .876 SV% in six games with Grand Rapids. He is a career 3-5-0 with a 1.80 GAA and .926 SV% in the NHL. He is a young up-and-coming goaltender who had a great preseason, who could make for a nice spot-start tonight vs. the Jets.

Mrazek, 22, has gone 1-2-0 with a 3.80 GAA and .854 SV% in four games with Grand Rapids this season. Mrazek was excellent in the preseason and has been solid in his brief time with the Red Wings. He is 3-5-0 with a 1.80 GAA and .926 SV% in his young NHL career. With Jonas Gustavsson out for two months, Mrazek should see a handful of starts, but the Red Wings do not have a back-to-back until December 6th and 7th, so he could be waiting awhile if the Wings decide to ride Jimmy Howard.

Mrazek was recalled to serve as the backup to Jonas Gustavsson on Saturday because Jimmy Howard was dealing with a minor groin injury. Returning Mrazek to Grand Rapids is a good sign that Howard is fine and will be available for Tuesday's matchup with the Habs.

It turns out that Jordan Coreau was only recalled for the Red WIngs morning skate, but it will be Mrazek who will backup Jimmy Howard tonight vs. the Hurricanes. Mrazek is 1-4-0 with a 2.01 GAA and .916 SV% with the Red Wings this season. He has been spectacular with the Griffins, going 22-8-1 with a 2.07 GAA and .925 SV% in 31 games.

In his last start he gave up three goals on 19 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Islanders on December 23. Overall he is 1-2-0 with a 1.74 GAA and .914 SV% in three starts and five appearances. He draws a tough assignment tonight against the NHL's best Anaheim Ducks (34-8-5).

He has been stellar in the AHL going 10-2-1 with a 2.09 GAA and .927 SV% in 13 starts. The 21-year-old will face a Lightning team who just beat the Red Wings in a shootout on Thursday, but are coming off of a 3-0 defeat last night.

Mrazek will serve as Jonas Gustavsson's backup tomorrow in Tampa Bay after Jimmy Howard was injured in practice this morning. Mrzaek posted a 14-save shutout in his only NHL start this season. He is 10-2-1 with 2.09 GAA and .927 SV% in the AHL.
