Dubois left Friday's practice early but head coach Paul Maurice thinks he's "probable" for Saturday's rematch vs. the Senators. Dubois' Jets career is off to a slow start but he has a terrific matchup to get his first point on Saturday.
17 days after being acquired from the Blue Jackets, Dubois will make his Jets debut on Tuesday. Dubois will start on a line with Kyle Connor and Trevor Lewis and is expected to see PP2 time. Dubois had one goal on seven shots in five games with Columbus before the trade.
Dubois made it well-known that he was looking for a trade out of Columbus and things reached a tipping point on Thursday when head coach John Tortorella benched him for nearly the entire game. Given their backs were against the wall, the Blue Jackets did a pretty nice job turning a disgruntled Dubois and a third-round pick into Laine and Roslovic. For Dubois, he heads to Winnipeg where he will slot in behind Mark Scheifele as their No.2 centre and will most likely have either Nikolaj Ehlers or Kyle Connor on his wing.
Dubois, 18, was selected third overall this summer but couldn’t crack the Blue Jackets opening night roster. He was on the 23-man roster but only for cap purposes. Dubois heads back to the QMJHL where he had 99 points (42G / 57A) in 62 games last season.
