Rene Bourque News

Calgary Flames' forward Rene Bourque has been suspended for 5 games for delivering an elbow to Capitals' center Nicklas Backstrom.

Bourque is suspended for his needless elbow to the head of Caps center Nicklas Backstrom. His next game will be January 17th in San Jose.

Up front, it looks like Rene Bourque will be a gametime decision for this one, as he missed practice for a second straight day this morning. Assistant coach Dave Lowry informed us he's battling the flu prior to departure yesterday, so there's a good chance he'll miss this one and return closer to the weekend.

If Bourque can't play tonight look for Roman Horak to draw back in on the second line. The streaky scorer had nine goals and 12 points through 29 games. Don't expect him to miss more than a game.

With an undisclosed injury it remains difficult to assess how long Bourque will miss. Last season, the streaky winger matched his career high with 27 goals through 80 games. He should be able to at least score 25 should he play around 70 games.
