Florida has signed Sandis Vilmanis to a two-year contract extension worth $925,000 AAV.

Vilmanis, a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, made his NHL debut in the 2025-26 season, recording five points (3G / 2A) in 19 games with the Panthers. That said, the 22-year-old forward spent most of last season in the AHL, where he picked up 38 points (17G / 21A) in 48 games with the Charlotte Checkers.

Vilmanis (upper-body) will not return to Wednesday's game against the Bruins.

It's unclear when Vilmanis suffered the injury, but he managed to play just 2:35 of ice time before exiting the game for good. Vilmanis caused a stir earlier in the game when he was penalized for an illegal hit to the head of Bruins defenceman Charlie McAvoy. McAvoy left the game but was able to return for the start of the second period.
