Slava Voynov to the American Hockey League’s Manchester Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Voynov posted two goals and three points in his last game but is a victim to the numbers game.

I like his game a lot. I think, certainly, his play with the puck, his composure and his attitude about going after it and being aggressive on the offensive part of the game, is something that I’ve always liked in players, and he’s bringing that.
Voynov almost certainly will be demoted once Drew Doughty returns to the lineup. Through his first two games he's failed to register a point with a plus-2 rating. Perhaps he is not quite ready for NHL action...

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have recalled defenseman Slava Voynov from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League and have placed defenseman Drew Doughty on the injured reserve list (upper body injury), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Voynov should take Doughty's place on the top defensive unit and on the powerplay. Grab him now while you still can.

Voynov will get his third preseason game tonight, and Terry Murray recently said he believed Voynov to be “ahead’’ of Thomas Hickey in terms of readiness to grab an NHL spot.

As long as Drew Doughty remains unsigned — and there's no telling when the restricted free-agent defenseman's dispute with the Kings will be resolved — Thomas Hickey and Viatcheslav Voynov will continue to dream their NHL dreams.
Should Doughty remain out, Voynov remains the favorite to replace him. The Russian expatriate scored 15 goals and 51 points last season with the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL. Watch him very closely as those points could translate very well if given the opportunity.
