The Maple Leafs have signed Stephane Robidas to a three-year deal worth $9 million.

Robidas, 37, is a rugged, hard-working defenseman who recorded 10 points (5G / 5A) in 38 games with the Stars and Ducks last season. He broke his leg on two separate occasions, but he is expected to be fine heading into 2014-15. He should replace Tim Gleason on the Leafs blueline.

If Robidas’ (leg) recovery schedule goes according to plan, expect to see him in the lineup sometime next week.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau says he doesn’t want to rush the 37-year-old back into the lineup, especially with back-to-backs against the Avalanche and LA Kings on Friday and Saturday. Boudreau says playing him on Tuesday, March 18 against the Washington Capitals is more likely.

The Ducks have acquired Stephane Robidas from the Stars for Washington's fourth-round pick they got for Dustin Penner.

Robidas has been out since November 29 because of a broken leg. He had four goals and one assist in 24 games this season. He is a strong two-way defenseman who can do it at both ends of the rink. The 37-year-old addresses a need for a right-handed shot on the Ducks blueline, not to mention he is as tough as nails.

Dallas Stars' defenseman Stephane Robidas will be out 4-6 months with leg fracture.

Robidas was injured on Friday after crashing legs first into the boards. He had surgery early Saturday morning and will be out until April at the earliest. This is a tough break for Robidas who is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Jamie Oleksiak has been recalled from Texas (AHL).

The Stars are expected to provide an update on the nature and the severity of the break later today, but for now consider him out indefinitely. Expect Kevin Connauton or Aaron Rome to fill the void on the blueline.

Defenseman Stephane Robidas and Sheldon Souray did not practice today. Both are dealing with foot issues, but are expected to play Friday.

Robidas continues to battle bumps and bruises, missing a few games over the course of the season. He scored two goals and 12 points in 39 games. If he can't play, look for Adam Pardy or Philip Larsen to draw in.

Afterward, he looked and sounded like a guy ready to get into the lineup in Nashville on Thursday, though no decision has been made.

Robidas should be nearing his return. The Sherbrooke, Quebec native has two goals and 11 points over 32 games.
