Steve Ott News

The Canadiens acquired Steve Ott from the Red Wings for a 2018 6th Round Pick.

Ott has collected three goals and three assists (six points) in 42 games for the Red Wings this season. Ott brings some grit, toughness and good face-off ability to the Canadiens’ bottom-6 but likely won’t see a tonne of playing time down the stretch.

The Red Wings have placed Steve Ott (shoulder) on injured reserve.

Ott has not played in three games, but it was believed that he was a healthy scratch. Ott has reportedly been dealing with the injury since the Centennial Classic and has been moved to IR, presumably to make room for Darren Helm, who is expected to play on Friday.

Ott is expected to be back in the Red Wings’ lineup on Friday.

Ott played just 9:28 in the Red Wings’ season opener, but served as a healthy scratch in the last three games. Tonight, the rugged winger will replace Andreas Athanasiou on the fourth line, but doesn’t have any fantasy value.

The Red Wings have signed Steve Ott to a one-year deal worth $800K.

Ott, 33, isn’t known for his offensive contributions, but is a solid fourth-line forward. Ott can play all three forward positions, kill penalties and win face-offs, bringing some versatility to the Red Wings bottom-6. Ott, who played his junior career in Windsor (OHL) will enjoy a bit of a homecoming of sorts.

The Sabres have traded Ryan Miller and Steve Ott to the Blues for Jaroslav Halak, Chris Stewart prospect William Carrier, a first-round draft pick in 2015 and a third-round draft pick in 2016.

Ott will likely play on the Blues third line and see significantly less minutes. He has nine goals and 11 assists in 59 games this season.

Ott has moved up to the Sabres top line with Thomas Vanek and Cody Hodgson.

Buffalo has scored just two goals in their first three games so it is not surprising that they have decided to shake up their lines. Ott has yet to post any points, but his spot on the top line should help him find the stat sheet.
