Nichuskin has not played since October 25th due to a foot injury but is a game-time decision Friday to return to the injury-riddled Colorado Avalanche. Prior to his injury, the 27-year-old was one of the NHL's hottest players with seven goals, five assists and 26 SOG through only seven games to start the season.

Nichuskin will undergo ankle surgery and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after missing the Avalanches' last four games. This is a terrible loss for the 27-year-old, who was enjoying the best season of his career to date prior to the injury, scoring seven goals and 12 points in his first seven games played.

Nichushkin is dealing with a non-COVID illness and is questionable to play on Tuesday. He didn't travel with the team initially but is currently on his way to Pittsburgh and may play against the Penguins.
