Viktor Fasth News

The Oilers have placed Viktor Fasth (knee) on injured reserve.

Fasth suffered a knee injury in Monday’s shootout loss and his movement to IR allowed the Oilers to activate Ben Scrivens, who is set to return form a hamstring injury. There is no word on how long Fasth will be sidelined, but being on IR means that he will miss at least the next three games.

Fasth will make his third straight start on Saturday.

Fasth allowed two goals on 26 shots in the Oilers 2-0 loss to the Penguins on Wednesday. He played well against a strong offence, but when the team can’t score in front of you, there isn’t much you can do. He has actually not three of his last five starts while posting a 2.71 GAA and .908 SV%.

Viktor Fasth
Fasth will start in Washington.

Fasth stopped 35 of 37 shots that he faced in the Oilers shootout win over the Panthers on Saturday. It was one of Fasth’s best games this season, which earned him a second straight start tonight in Washington. Despite the strong outing, we would like to see some consistency out of Fasth before he can be trusted in fantasy circles.

Fasth allowed five goals on 24 shots in the Oilers loss to the Coyotes on December 1st. Ben Scrivens has started the last three games, but it will be Fasth tonight in Anaheim. It will be the first time he faces his former team this season, but they have won four in a row and the Oilers are…well the Oilers, so avoid this one.

Viktor Fasth

Viktor Fasth to start.
