Zac Rinaldo News

Rinaldo (upper-body) is not at Flyers practice this morning.

Rinaldo suffered and upper-body injury in Wednesday's win over the Penguins and did not return. There is no word on the severity of the injury, but his absence at practice on Friday puts his availability for Satruday's game in serious doubt. Blair Jones will re-enter the lineup with Rinaldo out.

Rinaldo will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety Monday for a hit on Buffalo Sabres defenseman Chad Ruhwedel on Sunday.

At 4:29 of the third period, Rinaldo was assessed a match penalty for hitting Ruhwedel near the blue line in the Philadelphia defensive zone. Ruhwedel left the game and did not return. The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

RInaldo (ankle) has shed his non-contact jersey, but doesn't appear to be in tonight's lineup.

Rinaldo has missed the last 10 games with a high-ankle sprain, but is really close to returning. Getting rid of the non-contact jersey suggests that he could play tonight, but there is no real need for him to be in the lineup against the Red Wings.

Rinaldo has been placed on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain.

Rinaldo is expected to miss a month and a half with the ankle injury that he suffered on Wednesday. The McGinn has been recalled to take his spot on the roster. Expect Rinaldo back after the Olympic break.
