Zac Jones News

Jones was a late addition to Thursday's lineup after Mika Zibanejad left warmups with an undisclosed injury. Jones will draw in as the Rangers will opt to dress seven defensemen in Zibanejad's absence.

Jones will re-enter the Rangers lineup as K'Andre Miller will not suit up due to personal reasons. The 23-year-old Jones has not played since November 27th and has three points (0G / 3A), averaging 13:16 through 11 games this season.

Jones spent most of the 2023 season in the AHL, collecting 31 points (8G / 23A) in 54 games with Hartford. During his brief time with the Rangers, he had two points (1G / 1A) in 16 games, giving him a combined eight points (1G / 7A) in 38 career NHL games. The one-way deal suggests that Jones is a part of the Rangers' blueline plans for the 2023-24 season.

Jones played in five straight games with the Rangers before being a healthy scratch in Ottawa on Sunday. Patrik Nemeth (personal) replaced him in the lineup against the Senators.

Jones was a third-round pick of the Rangers in 2019 and signed his entry-level deal after his second year at UMass. The 20-year-old defenseman, who will replace Jacob Trouba and should see some PP2 time, had nine goals and 15 assists (24 points) in 29 games this season.
