The Oilers signed Zack Kassian to a four-year extension worth $12.8 million ($3.2M AAV).

Kassian was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer but signs a four-year extension to remain with the Oilers through the 2024 season. Kassian has spent most of the season on Connor McDavid's wing and is on-pace to set new career-highs in goals, assists and points.

Kassian will return to the Oilers lineup on Wednesday after serving his two-game suspension.

Kassian was suspended for two games for his altercation with Matthew Tkachuk but is set to return tonight. Coincidentally enough, Kassian returns just in time for a home-and-home with Tkachuk and the Calgary Flames. It could be an interesting night for Kassian, who has been held goalless in his last nine games.

Their first game back is against...Tkachuk and the Flames. Josh Archibald skated on the top line in Monday's practice and could replace Kassian next to McDavid on Tuesday.

The Oilers have signed Zack Kassian to a three-year extension worth $5.85M ($1.95M AAV).

It seems like forever ago that Kassian was selected No.13 overall and after a few tough seasons and stops in Buffalo, Vancouver and Montreal, Kassian seems to have found a home in Edmonton. In his second season with the Oilers, the power-forward had 23 points (7G / 17A) in 79 games and added three more goals in 13 playoff games.

Kassian will make his Oilers debut on Thursday.

Kassian, who was traded in the preseason to Montreal, never played a game with the Habs. After being acquired by the Oilers, he collected one goal in four games with the Bakersfield Condors. He is a big body presence and could work his way up the lineup, but expect him to start in the bottom-6 on Thursday.

Kassian has cleared waivers and has been assigned St. John's (AHL).

After being reinstated on Tuesday, Kassian was placed on waivers and cleared this afternoon. He has been sent to St. John's where he will work on his game after not playing for the first two and a half months of the season. Kassian will need to improve at the AHL level before the Habs call him back up.
