This may turn out to be a silly idea, but I wanted to try anyways. I have been discussing the Chara-Pacioretty hit with a number of people, and while most people agree that it was unfortunate that the hit happened to be right at the turnbuckle, their is disagreement about whether the hit should have happened at all. It is only a small sample size, but people have seem to fallen on one side or the other of the argument based on the position and style they played growing up.
For example, I was a forward who’s speed was my biggest asset, and it would drive me crazy when defenceman would run interference like that miles away from the puck. On the other hand, the guys who played defence see that as a necessary part of their position, and feel like if they weren’t allowed to make that play, they would get burned way too often.
My curiosity has gotten the best of me so I want to post a poll. If you have an opinion on the matter, please vote in the poll and feel free to elaborate in the comments. The options in the poll are by no means meant to be all encompassing, so I welcome other viewpoints as well.
