Predators place Turris on Injured Reserve

Ahead of their Sunday matchup with the Anaheim Ducks, the Nashville Predators announced that they have placed forward Kyle Turris on IR with an undisclosed injury.

Turris was forced to leave Friday’s game in St. Louis after playing just 3:39 TOI. His injury is believed to have stemmed from this heavy hit from Blues’ forward Brayden Schenn.

There is no word how long the Predators expect to be without Turris, but their forward depth will be tested going forward. The Predators are already without Viktor Arvidsson for at least four or five more weeks with a broken thumb.

With both Turris and Arvidsson missing from their top-6, head coach Peter Laviolette is expected to lean more heavily on Kevin Fiala, Calle Jarnkork and Nick Bonino. Fiala skated with Filip Forsberg and Ryan Johansen on Friday and Bonino was promoted to the second line with Jarnkrok and Craig Smith after Turris got hurt. That is the look we expect to see vs. the Ducks on Sunday. Rocco Grimaldi was recalled for the second time this season and he should draw into the lineup somewhere—presumably on the fourth line, at least to start the game.
