UPDATE – Quick out with grade 2 groin strain

Nov 14 1:56 p.m EST – Quick underwent an MRI in Los Angeles and a grade 2 groin strain was revealed. According to Dennis Bernstein, VP of The Fourth Period Magazine, recovery time for a grade 2 groin strain is typically two to three weeks but can last up to six weeks. Ben Scrivens will serve as the Kings starter for the time being with Martin Jones as the backup.

The Los Angeles Kings’ goaltender Jonathan Quick left Tuesday’s game in overtime with an apparent lower-body injury.
Quick stretched to make a save in the extra-frame and then slid back and hit his leg off of the post. Quick stayed down clearly in pain. It appeared Quick was hurt on the original save attempt, but that is simply speculation. Regardless, Quick left and did not return.
Quick had an easy night before getting injured, he allowed two goals on 17 shots. Ben Scrivens replaced Quick in overtime and was not forced to make a save. The game went to a shootout where the Sabres scored two of three shots on Scrivens to win 3-2.
There is no word one the nature or severity of Quick’s injury but it had the look of a groin injury. A groin ailment is troublesome for a goaltender and would likely force Quick to miss some time. He will be evaluated tomorrow and more details will be released. If he does miss time, Scrivens would obviously get a bump in fantasy value and 23-year-old Martin Jones would likely be recalled from Manchester (AHL).
