Red Light Specials: 1/7 Edition

Red Light Specials: 1/7 Edition

Afternoon guys. A pretty bad 0-2 night last night thanks to the Rangers offense awakening and the Sharks needing extra time to beat the Blues. You’ll have these kinds of nights.

Initially, I had first written down NYR -1.5 at +210. I should have stuck with my gut. It seemed like a very risky play, but had the best value of the day in terms of payout and likelihood. I went for a safer u5, but that failed miserably.

An abridged RLS today as I have to run to the airport an hour away around 4, so sorry for the lack of analysis today. I did not want to let a 10-game day go by the wayside. Naturally, there are some good value plays tonight.

Nash

CBJ @ EDM u5.5 (+105)

A pretty nice value for a game that looks to have some offense to it. Mathieu Garon and Devan Dubnyk go tonight at Rexall and both are backstopping reeling teams. Both CBJ and EDM are 1-4 over their last five, Columbus has lost 21 of 24. Take in to account that Rick Nash is in an enormous slump.

Another huge asset to the under in this game is Ales Hemsky’s injury. Hemsky flat out owns the Blue Jackets with 31 points in 23 games against the Jackets. Though Dubnyk is a suspect play, the Jackets have abandoned all offense under Hitchcock and have tried to win every game 2-1.

The Jackets just had a string of six straight unders busted by Vancouver’s touchdown, and the Oilers just had a string of six unders of their own snapped. I know the goaltender matchup does not look favorable, but the overall lack of goal scoring is very favorable.

NSH -1.5 (+165) v. CAR

Carolina is 3-17 ATS on the road this year. Factor in the loss of Eric Staal for personal reasons and you’ve got phenomenal value at +165 here. Pekka Rinne is 11-6 ATS at home this season and the Preds get to shoot at Cam Ward who is 2-10 ATS on the road. He has played better of late, but Carolina looks to be lucky to get more than one goal tonight.

The Preds are 13-8 ATS facing a team below .500 while the Canes are 3-10 ATS facing a team with a winning record. This looks like a very solid play tonight.

OTT @ WSH o6 (-110)

Jose Theodore. I don’t need to say any more.

Good luck tonight, players. Again, sorry for the abridged column tonight, but it’s a busy day for me and I just wanted to get something out there for you.
