ESPN has hired former Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella as a TV analyst, according to a report from The Athletic.

Tortorella’s contract with the Blue Jackets expired at the end of last season and the two sides decided to part ways. Multiple reports have suggested that it was ultimately Tortorella’s decision not to return.

Tortorella has 20 years of NHL head coaching experience and has coached Columbus since 2015-16 when he replaced Todd Richards midseason.

The 63-year-old is well-known for his fiery temper and for rarely holding back during press conferences, and sometimes games.

Tortorella will reportedly begin with ESPN starting in the fall.
