Vinne Hinostroza will be coming back to the Buffalo Sabres for another season.

The Sabres announced on Tuesday that they’ve signed Hinostroza to a one-year contract worth $1.7 million.

The Sabres signed Hinostroza to a one-year contract worth $1 million last summer when he was coming off an injury-riddled 2021 season in which he scored just 12 points across 26 games. Hinostroza found his game in Buffalo, as he scored 13 goals and 25 points over 62 games with the Sabres.

Hinostroza was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut with Chicago three years later. All told, Hinostroza has played 334 NHL games with the Blackhawks, Coyotes, Panthers, and Sabres and has scored 51 goals and 137 points.

The Sabres have a handful of other players who are set to hit the open market when free agency opens on Wednesday. Mark Jankowski, Cody Eakin, John Hayden, Will Butcher, Colin Miller, and Mark Pysyk are all pending unrestricted free agents, while goaltenders Malcolm Subban and Dustin Tokarski are also eligible to hit the open market.
