Sheldon Souray not invited to training camp by Oilers

According to Darren Dreger of TSN, Sheldon Souray received an email to not go to camp with the Edmonton Oilers and wait for further orders.  The former alternate captain with a boom of a shot will await orders from his team, as training camp begins.

For the time being, scratch Souray off your cheat sheets.  Although the team will most likely improve from their terrible showing last season, this hulking defenseman continued not to fit into their plans.  Not many contenders hold the cap space to take on his albatross contract so we may need to wait a bit longer to see if he will hold any fantasy value for this season.

Just three years ago Souray posted 23 goals and 53 points in one of his better offensive seasons.  Those days seem to be long in the distance when discussing this 34-year-old.
