Sidney Crosby dangles Oilers for insane OT winner

In case you were wondering (which you probably weren’t), Sidney Crosby still has it.

The Penguins’ superstar center scored one of the better goals of his career in overtime Tuesday evening against the Edmonton Oilers.

After a back-and-forth regulation session in which the two teams combined for 10 goals, the Connor McDavid vs. Crosby showdown headed to 3-on-3 overtime.

Crosby scored his first goal of the season earlier in the game and wasn’t done there.

The Pittsburgh captain dangled around the Oilers for one of the nicest overtime goals of the NHL season to give the Penguins a 6-5 victory:

Crosby had five assists entering Tuesday’s game, but had yet to convert on any of his 13 shots thus far. He was due to breakout and couldn’t have picked a better night to do it.

The 31-year-old recently told NHL.com he thinks McDavid is the best player in the NHL:

“I think McDavid has set himself apart just based on the awards and the accolades he’s gotten and the consistency he’s had,” said Crosby. “I think it’s fair to say it’s an easy pick just because of that.”

McDavid did score Tuesday against the Penguins and has at least a point in every Oilers’ game this season, but he got outplayed by Sid the Kid Tuesday night. Crosby is now 5-0-0 head-to-head against the 21-year-old Edmonton phenom.

It was the 14th career overtime goal of Crosby’s career, tying him for second-most among active NHL players and eighth all time.

Crosby opened the scoring with a power-play tally and finished the game with a sensational overtime winner. Hard to top that.
