Stastny a late scratch for the Jets on Tuesday

The injuries continue to mount for the Winnipeg Jets as Paul Stastny was late scratch from Tuesday’s game after tweaking a lower-body injury in warmups.

The Jets activated Shawn Matthias (upper-body) from injured reserve earlier in the day and he will dress for the first time since January 12th.

Stastny has been a key addition to the Jets’ lineup since being acquired from the St. Louis Blues at the trade deadline. With Mark Scheifele dealing with an injury of his own, Stastny has picked up two goals and six assists (eight points) in seven games since the trade. Stastny has been playing with two young wingers in Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers and that trio has been dominant. Coming into Tuesday, they had a 54.75 CorsiFor% and have outscored the opposition 11-2 at 5v5.

The Jets are still comfortably in a playoff spot as they came into the day in second place in the Central Division with 92 points (41-18-10). However, they need to start getting healthy if they are going to make any noise in the postseason. Stastny joins Scheifele, Jacob Trouba, Dmitry Kulikov, Tobias Enstrom, Steve Mason, Adam Lowry and Matt Hendricks in the press box for tonight’s game.
