Mrazek allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Hurricanes loss in Tampa Bay last Tuesday. Mrazek’s Hurricanes career has gotten off to a rocky start, posting a 3.07 GAA and .874 SV% in four starts. Tonight he will face his former team in Detroit. Mrazek is a risky option on most nights, but the Red Wings are averaging just 2.38 GF/PG right now and he should be motivated to get the best of them.
Terry was given a great chance to play on the Ducks top line to start the season, but has not recorded a point in six games and has recently moved down the lineup. He heads to San Diego where he figures to get his offensive game going and likely return to Anaheim shortly.
Mrazek allowed two goals on 25 shots in the Hurricanes loss in Winnipeg on Sunday. It was Mrazek’s best start in a Carolina jersey and tonight he will make his fourth appearance of the season. Mrazek has a 3.05 GAA and .870 SV% so far and is a risky start against a Lightning team.
Mrazek allowed two goals on 20 shots in the Hurricanes overtime loss to the Islanders on Thursday. Mrazek was given the Hurricanes’ second game off, but will draw back back between the pipes this afternoon vs. the Rangers. New York has a thin roster but Mrazek is always a risky option.
Mrazek enjoyed a breakout season during the 2016 season, but has tied for the league’s worst qualified SV% (.901) in 89 games since. With Scott Darling out to start the regular season, Mrazek will get a shot as the Hurricanes’ No.1 right away. He will be playing behind one of the best possession teams in hockey, so he should see less shots than he became accustom to in Detroit.
Mrazek looked like the goalie of the future in Detroit during the 2016 season, when he was 27-16-6 with a 2.33 GAA and .921 SV%. In the two seasons since, Mrazek is tied with the second-worst SV% (.901) among qualified starters. The Flyers elected not to qualify the 26-year-old, so he lands in Carolina where he will battle with Scott Darling for playing time in the crease.
Vatrano split his 2018 season between the Bruins and Panthers. The 23-year-old had eight points (5G / 3A) in 16 games with Florida, finishing the year with 10 points (7G / 3A) in 41 games. Vatrano seemed to have found a nice home in Florida and should be a bottom-6 winger with them to start 2019.
Trouba was given some rest the other night but will draw back in tonight vs. the Flames. Trouba has two assists in his last two games since returning from a five-game absence and has totalled 24 points (3G / 21A) in 54 games this season.
Mrazek stopped all 17 shots that he faced after replacing Michal Neuvirth in the Flyers win over the Avalanche on Wednesday. With Neuvirth and Brian Elliott bot on the shelf, the Flyers will continue to roll with the 26-year-old netminder this afternoon. It has been a mixed bag of results for Mrazek since joining the Flyers, going 5-5-0 with a 3.11 GAA, .890 SV% and one shutout overall.
Trouba has missed the last five games but will be back in tonight in Toronto. Trouba has had a hard time with injuries this season, but has collected three goals and 19 assists (22 points) in 52 games.
Vatrano is dinged up so he will come out of the lineup this afternoon. This is a tough break for Vatrano, who will miss an opportunity to face his former team in Boston. The injury is believed to be minor so look for him to be back in on Monday.
Johnston was a healthy scratch on Thursday but will replace Chris Wagner tonight vs. the Blackhawks. Johnston has picked up just six points (3G / 3A) in 17 games this season.
Mrazek allowed three goals on 28 shots in the Flyers win over the Capitals on Sunday. It hasn’t been all gravy for Mrazek since coming over from Detroit. The 26-year-old has gone 5-5-1 with a 3.14 GAA and .888 SV% in 11 games with the Flyers but he’ll have a good shot at a ‘W’ tonight vs. a Red Wings team that has dropped 10 in a row.
