Mrazek will start the Red Wings' season opener in Tampa Bay.

Mrazek’s first year as an NHL No.1 was a tail of two halves. In the first four and a half months, he was one of the best goalies in the league, going 21-10-4 with a 1.94 GAA and .934 SV%—both first in the NHL at the time. However, his final 17 games resulted in a 6-6-2 record, 3.32 GAA and .887 SV%. The young netminder bounced back in the postseason and should be more prepared for a full-season worth of starts, making him a borderline No.1 fantasy option. That said, he draws a tough matchup in his first game of the year.

The Wild have assigned Alex Stalock to Iowa (AHL).

Stalock was 3-5-2 with a 2.94 GAA and .884 SV% in nine starts and four relief appearances last year and signed with the Wild this offseason. He was always viewed as the No.3 option behind Devan Dubnyk and Darcy Kuemper, so this move is no surprise.

The NHL suspended Radko Gudas for the first six games of the regular season.

Gudas was suspended for six games after his shoulder-to-head hit on Bruins’ rookie Austin Czarnik on Saturday night. The Flyers’ will already be without Michael Del Zotto on the back-end, but it looks like Brandon Manning (shoulder) will be healthy enough to replace Gudas in the season opener.

The Islanders signed Ryan Strome to a two-year, $5 million contract ($2.5M AAV).

Strome, 23, was a restricted free agent who is coming off of a tough year. The 23-year-old had just 28 points (8G / 20A) in 71 games with the Islanders and was sent to Bridgeport (AHL) for a period of time. The former fifth overall pick (2011) had 17 goals and 33 assists (50 points) in 2014-15, showcasing his high-end offensive ability. He is an intriguing late-round pick for 2016-17.

The Red Wings re-signed goaltender Petr Mrazek to a two-year deal worth $8 million ($4.0M AAV).

The Red Wings and Mrazek were reportedly pretty far apart during their contract negotiations, but were able to come to terms on a two-year bridge deal. Mrazek became the Red Wings’ No. 1 goaltending option in 2015-16, starting 49 games (appearing in 54), posting a 27-16-6 record, 2.33 GAA, .921 SV% and four shutouts. He will have the same role in 2016-17, where he will likely start near 50 games again and should be a low-end No.1, high-end No. 2 fantasy option.

The Rangers signed Chris Kreider to a four-year contract worth $18.5 million ($4.625M AAV).

Kreider, 25, posted a career-high 46 points (21G / 25A) in 2014-15 and followed it up with a nearly identical season in 2016-16, posting 21 goals and 22 assists (43 points) in 79 games. Kreider will once again skate in the Rangers’ top-6 this season, with either Derek Stepan and Mika Zibanejad in the middle. Kreider could be in for a breakout season, which includes his first 25-goal, 50-point season.

The Lightning signed Alex Killorn to a seven-year deal worth $31.15 million ($4.45M AAV) on Sunday.

Killorn, 26, had 40 points (14G / 26A) in 81 games last season. He has been a very consistent point producer in the lat three years, finishing with 41, 38 and 40 points each season. Those number are certainly serviceable for the Lightning, but aren’t quite good enough to land him firmly on the fantasy radar.

The Wild have signed goaltender Alex Stalock to a one-year contract.

Stalock, 28, struggled with the Sharks last season, going 3-5-0 wit ha 2.94 GAA and .884 SV% before being demoted to the AHL and eventually traded to the Maple Leafs as a part of the James Reimer deal. The Minnesota native signed with his hometown team where he will battle with Darcy Kuemper for Devan Dubnyk’s backup job.

Mrazek will start Game 4 vs. the Lightning.

After sitting for games one and two, Mrazek started game three and stopped all 16 shots that he faced in the Red Wings’ 2-0 shutout win. It was Mrazek’s third career playoff shutout in just eight playoff starts. All eight of them have come against the Lightning—he has gone 4-4 with a 1.83 GAA and .931 SV% and those three blank sheets. Mrazek is 2-1-1 with a 1.75 GAA, .926 SV% and two shutouts in four career playoffs start at Joe Louis Arena.

Montreal comes in having lost six of their last eight.

The Bruins have recalled Frank Vatrano from Providence (AHL).

Vatrano, 22, has split his time between Boston and Providence during the 2015-16 campaign. He has registered six goals and one assist (seven points) in 30 games in Boston and leads the AHL in goals with 33 in 33 games. In addition to the 33 goals Vatrano has added 16 assists for 49 points, which is good for third on the team.

Mrazek (illness) returned to practice on Monday.

Mrazek missed the last two games with an illness, but he was back on the ice for Monday’s practice, which suggests that he could be back in goal for Tuesday’s game in Tampa Bay. Mrazek has gone 2-4-0 with a 3.14 GAA and .901 SV% in March.
