Korpisalo starts on Saturday vs. the Avalanche.

Korpisalo turned aside 41 of 42 shots in the Blue Jackets 3-1 win over the Maple Leafs on Wednesday. What a tremendous performance from the 21-year-old. Despite Sergei Bobrovsky being activated from IR, it looks like Korpisalo will get another shot in goal with the Avalanche in town. Colorado comes into town having won four of their last six.

Rask allowed five goals on 30 shots in the Bruins loss to the Canadiens in the Winter Classic. The stat line looks bad, but Rask was the only reason the Bruins didn’t get blown out in the first period. It was a tough start to 2016 for Rask, but if he can pick up where he left off in December, the Bruins will be in tremendous hands.

The Bruins have assigned David Pastrnak to Providence (AHL).

Pastrnak has not played for the Bruins since October 31st. He was sidelined by a foot injury for an extended period of time and just returned from a loan to the Czech Republic at the World Junior Championships, where he had four points in four games. He suffered a finger injury during the tournament, so maybe the Bruins just want to get him back up to speed in the North American game before bringing him back to the big club.

Then, Curtis McElhinney landed on IR, so back comes Korpisalo, who will join Anton Forsberg as the Blue Jackets’ goalies for the foreseeable future. Korpisalo is 1-4-0 with a 3.65 GAA and .886 SV% in five starts.
